and turning the heal was actually fun and isn't hard at all... I used this pattern here.. http://www.royea.net/sock.html... loads of instructions!!

the sock is just above my big toe... so I think I can change colors again and start to decrease...

good ribbing or bad ribbing... I'm not going to rip it apart!! that little bit took just about 1 1/2 hrs to do... I'll keep it just as is... it's my first try at socks, so this way I can see how much I've improved.... the charcoal color I'm doing a 3X1 ribbing for the leg part of the sock... I'm going to make them about 2 inches over the ankle, I don't like long socks.

I cast on 40 sts on 3.5 needles and the 1X1 ribbing went great for a bit... then I recounted the sts and some how I had 41?~?~?!?! well what the heck?? so I knit 2 together and continued on...

was at wally world the other day and seen this tweed yarn... it's a charcoal color with flecks of orange, teal, and purple in it.... I just walked by, and I heard this voice " MAKE ME INTO SOCKS!!!!" nope it wasn't a quite voice... so I turned around quickly and plopped it into the cart, found some orange, teal and purple for ribbing. ( ribbing is a total other for me?!?!)

I took 2 patterns and combined them and crossed my fingers that it actually would work out...

( note to self, uncross fingers before starting to knit... much easier to knit that way)

OMG... it actually fits,
it's NOT funny shaped...
there's no holes in it in odd places,
and I didn't lose any stitches!!

I just might be a knitter yet..

Worked on the afghan again yesterday and now it's about the size of a small throw...

it's getting there, slowly but surely... I'd imagine he'd just keep it on the couch anyways so it should be big enough for that.

The girl ( the same one who wanted the bert and ernie mitts... hey Jana!) asked me to make these... with no pattern I of course made up my own... now both of my girls want some too!!

Another lady at work loved the bert and ernie mitts too.. and ordered some.. but just black... boring?!?! yup... but what can you do?? so I have one made and will start the next one sometime today.

my hubby is in town picking up some ingredients to make some jerky... we have 2 dehydraters from our moms and will set it up this afternoon before they go to the hockey game.... this is our first time making jerky... so I hope it turns out ok....
we found loads of recipies online butwe're just going to start out with plain ole jerky to start with..

There's a craft show in town on the 27th... a friend and myself are going in it with all of our crochet "things".. been working like a bugger to get ready... on the weekend I made 3 Posh Ponchos one is blue ( which I got for my b-day) with 3 little flowers by the shoulder, one is a pink/grey varigated, with a big flower at the shoulder... and the last one is white with eyelash yarn around the neck line... by far it's the best I think ;~)... I never did get anymore dolls done... but I did finish a cute clown I had started about a yr ago.. Yeah ME... lol..

As for xmas presents I have just about nothing done... (been working on this show)
what I do have done is a eyelash scarf for my mom, and I started knitting a hat to match but with only eyelash as a trim.... I have plans to make some sockyarn gloves for her too.. they're easy and fast so I think It'll happen.....
The blanket for my dad is still at the same stage it was the last time I wrote about it... I think if I put everything else away except for x-mas stuff after this show I might be able to get some things done!! The girls really loved the poncho's, so thats what I'm going to make them... and one for my SIL also... and for my brother?!?!? yup you got it I'm not to sure.... he does wear ties to work... so maybe crochet him a neck tie??? Hmmmmm... not to sure if he'd wear it... lol...
and for Albert... maybe a bright orange hunting hat?? yep probally.

It started snowing here today... I think winter is here to stay this time.. it's quite the change from +8c weather we had here last week!! Had to tear the house apart to find all the kids snow stuff... DJ 's jacket is getting to small... so I looked for one of my old ones... and I found one I had in gr 11 or 12... and IT FITS HER!!! it's a bit long in the sleeves.. but it's perfect, hopefully it'll last for a few yrs... and she think's it's COOL.;~)

Albert started working days.... getting up at 5 in the morning is taking a turn on him... he's just about sleeping at supper... ( he's been working nights since Naiomi was little... so 6 yrs) He has 10 days to try out this new shift and if he doesn't like it can go back to nights again... so we'll see what happens.

I've been working on her since sunday... got the pattern from the newest crochet world mag... she WAS supposed to be a angel... but with no wings?? then her hair.....

well thats something else all together... it had her hair just sewn on in the front and some curly Q's for the back.. which is very cute for a angel... and I'm not a big fan of curly Q's in the first place.. so I decided to tie 500 knots for her hair.... yep I was really reconsidering doing the q's by the time I got to the end... it took about 4 hrs to do the hair.. butI do think it turned out pretty well..( if I do say so my self....
all she needs now are some clothes....
I was planning on making her for the craft show... but now I might just have to keep her for me!! :~)

oh and

THE STRIKE IS OVER!!! WOO HOO!!

hey all... been a couple days...
things have been good... even planning on moving some stuff back home today, and be all the way back by the weekend!! It's been nice to be able to crash at mom's, thru this whole thing... but it's going to be so nice to be home too!
I've been tring to get ready for this craft show coming up... been making snowflakes, granny stockings ( for the tree) and was trying to think of what else to make, then remembered those big ole light bulbs... you know the kind where you put to many on one side of the tree, you tree falls over?? ok well not quite that bad but close... lol
anyway I came up with these ones... can make 2 a hour, I have the pattern on the hooker site, will have to add the link to here some day.. but if you like just follow one of the others
Other than that my life is pretty boring...
Albert is still on strike and there seems to be no end in site.. so X-mas isn't going to be to wonderful... not money wise but in happiness... with the strike going on farther and farther, it just keeps bringing people further down.

well I'm off like the leaves in fall...

there's been so much happening lately...

esp with the kids in school, by the time homework is done there's just no time to get online....

as for the family problems...

things are better...

we're working on our troubles and are actually happy again...

and we haven't been for sometime now...

I've been doing some crocheting and some knitting too...

I wanted to make a knit helmut hat for myself and well using sz 15 circular hooks and 3 strands of yarn it turned out way to big...

so thats now a hat scarf combo!!

it fits Alberts head and is even a bit to big for him...

so there goes me wearing it?!!?

I'm planning on making another with different yarns in purples,

so we'll see how that goes...

and I might even try it on and take a pic for you to see...

but only if your lucky... lol... ok a bit evil.. but someone has to be.. he he he

I started a afghan too.... and no I haven't even finished the one for dad yet...

this one is in sc with a drop dc every 10th st, and makes a diagnal pattern...

VERY AWSOME!!

when I seen it in a old mag I just had to try it...

It's about as fat as a scarf right now...

and that gave me an idea for a hat and scarf set with the same idea...

well I'm back...

. I'll just be posting very little... I still have loads of family things to work out, but just wanted to let you know that things are ok..... we're both seeing counslers to help us out... been doing a bit of crocheting... just more or less working on things that need finishing... like that afghan for dad... I have my fingers crossed still that it'll be done for X-mas!! :~S

foot things ( make 2 )

string 24 beads onto sz #10 thread I used a 1.75mm hook

ch104
*bead, ch1, 4slst, ch9, * repeat 11 times ( you should have 12 beads hanging, from the back of your ankle to just about to your second toe)

ch25 ( or however many you need to get around your second toe)

sc in same st as last slst, ch4, bead, ch1, 4 slst, sc in next ch, sc in next 5 chs ( untill you get to the next slst in ch), ch4, bead, 4slst, hdc in next ch, hdc in next 5 chs ( untill you get to the next slst in ch), ch4, bead, 4 slst, dc in nect ch, 5 dc ( until you come to the next sc)

ch4,* bead,ch1, 4 slst, ch9* repeat 8 times

ch100

fasten off... I cut the thread somewhat close to the knot and added a bit of clear nail polish so it wouldn't come undone.

Choker
thread about 30 beads

attach little snap to thread, ch4, *bead, ch1, 4slst, ch9* repeat untill it fits around your neck comfortably, ending with ch4, fasten off leaving enough thread to attach other part of snap, tuck in ends, and add clear nail polish to knots.

Bracelet
thread about 14 beads

same as choker but smaller... ;~)

ok so just wondering... does anyone ever make anything from my patterns?? do they work out for you?? or are they just a mess to figure out??

well... what have I been up to?? besides working, crocheting, knitting, doing laundry, cooking, cleaning, helping the kids with homework... not to much... lol....yup... keeping pretty busy!!
I have the day off today, so I'm planning to catch up on some crocheting... I owe alot of ppl bday squares from my msn group ;~S I hope they're not mad at me... I think I'm a couple months behind?!?! bad me

Albert ( hubby) went hunting the other day with his brother... they got one elk and are going to split the meat... good thing too... I don't think we have enough room for about 800 lbs of meat!?!? yep... they're BIG animals!! Albert is still hunting tho... it's just not right if you can't get one of your own... men?!?! what can you do with them?? yeah I don't know either??

It's been pretty sad around the community lately.... the same day my grandma dies, mom's neighbour died of a heart attach, then a couple days later a guy ( 19) from the town nearest us rolled his truck and died a couple days later... and then a friend (22)of his was visiting his family and on the way home, blew a tire, rolled his truck and also died... the sad thing is I knew all of them... and especially right after g'ma died it all hit pretty hard.

well better go do something productive today

ok I finished the sock last night but was to dark to take a decent pic..... and to spite the fact I hate doing BLO, I really like how the sock turns out!!
Next pair tho I'll have to add a few more rows before I do the chain to start on the foot part.. it seems just a bit to short for my likings in that department, but YEP, I like 'em!! and thats the best part!

Now I just have to get to wally to pick up some more funky sock yarn...

I'll have the best and coolest in town.. lol...

I cracked open the sock yarn I bought the last shopping trip....not to sure if I like it or not... I prefer the thinker yarn, but will say for sure when I'm done these... also just for notes sake I'm using the "in your shoes" pattern by Pam. I was never a fan of using "BLO"... so I'm toughing this out... have about 6" of the ribbing done...
I hope they work out for me... well gotta get back at it... I'll show you the sock later... I'll keep at it till I get one done

note for Santa... I NEED a new digi cam... the color on this one sucks... the purple yarn looks blue.... I'll have to leave something special under the tree for you this yr!!

the blue ones are for my aunt, out of some caron yarn I picked up at a garage sale,...got a huge bag of mostly unused yarn for only $10!! can't pass that up thats for sure.
the yellow and orange ones are for moi.
I'm making them with bernats satin yarn... it's so nice to work with, so soft and well satiny.. lol...
I have more of the bernat stuff too, some varigated and a blue to match... yup for making socks ;~)
I also bought some sock yarn too, have yet to get that going... soon tho, I'd like to see how it works up.
better get hooking again, can't have just 1/2 a pair....

well I had to keep myself busy today, so what a better way to do it than learn to knit gloves.... it's a easy pattern tho so that helps ALOT!! just cast on knit some rows bind off, cast on again and knit some more!! see easy peasy.... I actually like the pattern and want to make myself a black pair and just make the wrist part shorter... the pattern is pretty long... coming half way up my arm. I also made myself a knit dishcloth the other day too, learnt to increase and decrease that day... I just might become a knitter?? Hhmmmm, ok maybe a part time on the side knitter... I'd much rather crochet!!

My gramma just died about 1 hr ago.
She would of been 85 on her next birthday.
We knew she wasn't doing so good, she had cancer and it was in all her organs, she's been in a home for about a yr now, she never complained about it at all..
But I guess she didn't really know she was there either.
We're not to sure when the funeral is, dad is going there tomorrow or today to help my uncle to plan stuff, I'm thinking maybe thursday or friday??

well it's my day off...

and the kids are in school and the hubby walking the line

... it's so quite here....

was on the phone all morning and hooking of course...

made a cute little frog couple thats now on eBay..

other than that I've been working on the rippy granny afghan...

and it's coming along quite well...

it's about double the size than the pic I posted awhile back...

I must work on the Marie Doll Pattern I got a couple weeks ago too...

I was hoping to make it for Naiomi for x-mas....

tis the season when the sears wish book comes out!! lol...

I read your blog but have had computer then mouse problems and wasn't online much....

all I had to use to move around online was the keyboard...

I had started a blanket for dad for x-mas during ball season...
and well it didn't get to far.. it was a ripple.. and made with sc.... so I frogged it.. and started a granny square afghan.... and while talking to a friend she mentioned that a friend of hers had a pattern for a granny ripple.... THANKS SO MUCH!!! I just love this pattern... I've been only wokring on it for a bit now and I have quite a bit done!! I might actually finish this afghan... ( generally I don't finish projects that take too long)
So I must teach my hubby to crochet... the plant that he works at is going on strike on monday... Not to happy about that :~( so I figure when he's not on the picket line he might as well be doing something constructive, like crocheting.... lol... like that will ever happen... but I can dream....
SO I might now be online much... or not at all... we'll see how long things go... I might have to get rid of my net?!?! But will let you know...

and the tension for my sewing machine is off too... and I was a little disapointed about seeing the white thread at the top :~( but when your far away it's not noticable.... and of course I'm critical about my work... just nature I guess.. lol...

here's the purse I was working on... it turned out to be a bit smaller than I'd like... but now I'mm know for next time.... I'll just add more chains to the bottom.... I made a liner for it too.... and yep I did the button closure.... I didn't have any zippers and wasn't driving for 1 1/2 hrs to go and get one... but found a nice wooden button in my bucket... I'll post a close up pic in the next post since I can't add 2 to one post thru flickr... and if you know how... please let me know... thanks;~)

I tell ya... they can't look after anything?@?!??lol...I worked on Dj's last night and this morning before I went to work, finished them last night after supper.... I'm going to the city one of these days and GOING to pick up some sock yarn... that would be so cool!!
other than that I've just been trying to get the kids ready for school next monday.... 6 MORE SLEEPS!!! I can hardly wait!! it's been quite the summer thats for sure..lol...

I started a pair of socks for Naiomi yesterday after I finished mine...

and I just finished one!!

yep I love these socks....

I need to get some sock yarn next time I'm at the city for sure...

I added a shell stitch to the top...

it's pretty...

she wants to wear just the one sock...

I joined the feet need socks CAL today and made these this afternoon and evening... usually it takes me longer to do some hookin but today was my day off and I can just sit and crochet if I want to... lol...
and the best part about the socks... they're both THE SAME SIZE!!! for my first pair thats very impressive.... altho I did have to rip out 1/2 of the second pair... it was only 4 stitches to small.. 4 stitches!! well omg... was I ever mad... but got over it.. I took a break and kept hookin after some supper...

I got this idea about 4 days ago... it's a purse in #10 thread... I really thought it would take longer to crochet... but so far, just working on it at nights after work... it's almost done :~) I want to get some silk or satin for the inside, a zipper for the top too... or maybe just a wooden bead for a closure we'll see when it gets to that point... it's a bit see thru right now... (hence the satin), and who wants to advertise whats in there?!?!
other than that I just have to finish all the other things that I've started... a dog pottie peeker, a thread frog, the same from but in yarn...and oh yeah... some more foot thongs... lol.. better get crackin!!

I've been off work since Thrusday and was it ever nice to have some time just to sit and do whatever I wanted!! I mostly crocheted... today I made a flower child which was thread, and a dog and blanket, also a mermaid, I really like how it all turned out.. I'm going to make some more mermaids for sure.. they whip up fairly quick... the dog is adorable too... I made it white with a kind of brindle spots...
still no pics.. I downloaded the picasa stuff... but it won't open for me.. says I need some MMX processor!?!? aarrggg... will have to look some more... I sure would love to show off my pics..

Hamsters

we went to ball ( again) last weekend... and the petting zoo lady had baby hamsters... I've always wanted a hamster... and mom and dad would never let me get one when I lived with them... SO needless to say we are now the proud owners of 2 baby hamsters!!! they are Cambells dwarf.. both a grey tan color with a grey stripe down they're back... they're about 4 weeks old now... and SO sweet... how can you not love hamsters?? they're awsome... the down side is that they only live aprox. 2 yrs... bummer... still trying to figure out the whole picture thing... so please bare with me till then... later gator

Hey.... I found the cutest pattern in a old mag...a pottie peeker... for storing TP... it comes out of the top of the hat and is dog shape.... all I need to finish is 3 legs... I really must get some pic for you to see!! Other than that I really haven't been hooking much?!?! bummer... I'm on holidays so I might get motivated soon... I also won soe patterns on eBay.. woo hoo!! they are for rag dolls and tea cups, and the other for potpourri angels.... I can't wait to get them... they are SO cute!!

here's the pattern of the wrist pincushion I made:

FLOWER WRIST PINCUSHION
#10 crochet cotton ( main color and contrast color)1.75mm hookenough 1/8th" elastic to go around your wrist comfortablyneedle and thread, a small amount stuffingpop bottle caphot glue
row1 - with MC, ch3, 8 hdc in first ch, join in 1st hdc, ch1
row 2 - 2 hdc in each hdc, join in 1st hdc,ch1 ,
Row 3 - *1hdc in hdc, 2 hdc in next * around, join in 1st hdc, ch1
row 4 - * hdc in 2 hdc, 2 hdc in next* around, join in 1st hdc, ch1
row 5 - in BLO, hdc in each hdc, join to 1st hdc, ch1
row 6 - in both loops, hdc in each hdc around join, ch1
row 7 - repeat row 6
row 8 - repeat row 5, but ch2
ok, now stuff the bottle cap firmly, and put it inside your cuplooking thing..lol...with the open part of the bottle cap towards the bottom of the cup.
row 9 - dc in every second hdc, join in 1st dc, fasten off leaving enough thread to weave thru the dc and putt tight.secure with knot, tuck in ends.
With CC attach thread to any free st from row 5.
petal, *ch4, trc in same, 2 trc in next, trc in next( leaving the last loop from the trc's on hook, YO, pull thru all 5 loops on hook) ch4, slst in same, slst in next st* repeat around, making 11 petals, fasten off, tuck in ends.
now with your elastic, measure it around your wrist, cut, and sew the ends together making a loop.
now with the CC sc around the elastic loop, scing close together to totally cover elastic, join to first sc, fasten off tuck in ends,
hot glue (or sew) pincushion to elastic

I also made a cozie from www.knitty.com just something to keep condoms... the kids think it's for change... lol...might have to buy little zippers for some for the kids.. they can take some to school for milk money..;~)

Well this is my first blog so please be patient with me, this will be a learning experience!!
I'll tell you a bit about me, I'm 29, married to Albert for 8 yrs and we have 2 girls 9 and 6. We live out in the country and enjoy every minute of it! We have a 4 acre yard... so yep.. LOADS of grass to cut!! with a yard so big there's room for lots of extras.. like a huge garden ( we're to busy this yr tho and the weeds took over?!?!) and a fish pond.
Whats new today.. I designed a new pattern ... a flower wrist pincushion. so fast and cute, will take a pic tomorrow for you. I also crocheted a kalidiscope(sp) purse for my youngest girl, she just loves it! and now I'm working on a pooper peeker, it's a crocheted dog that has a hole in the top that your TP can come out of... looks cute in the mag, so had to give it a go!!
